Curriculum
Life Christian Academy is a private co-educational school for students K-5 through 5th grade with a wide range of learning abilities. The educational approach used is to help each student as an individual achieve his/her grade level and beyond, to think critically and objectively, and to learn with a Biblical worldview in mind.
LCA offers a Christian traditional academic program that emphasizes Biblical character building through rigorous Kindergarten through 5th Grade textbooks with a proven spiral learning approach. Additional techniques employed to meet individual needs include differentiated instruction, which is a flexible and individual approach to instruction that meets the multiple learning levels in the classroom. Initial assessments of various skills help the teacher to determine each child’s current level in reading, math, and writing. Whole group instruction is based on grade level skills. The teacher continually assesses for mastery and non-mastery of each skill covered. Small groups are determined by assessment data. Students are placed in small groups where their individual needs can be met.
The core curriculum for students enrolled includes reading, phonics, language, spelling, poetry, writing, arithmetic, history, geography, science, and health. Biblical studies are taught with an emphasis on teaching and discipling youth in their relationship with Jesus Christ. Activity classes in art, music, and physical education assist in preparing the students for future educational growth.
